Summer, while technically still a few weeks away, seems to be everywhere I look. Trees are full of leaves, animals are active after months of hibernation, and Michigan roadways are shutdown for construction. Seasons come and seasons go, but the cycles repeat themselves.
After writing and publishing these biweekly pieces since January it’s time I take a little step back from Substack,
at least for the time being. With summer inching closer and closer I’m forced to reckon with the fact that autumn isn’t far away, and with autumn comes graduate school applications.
For those who don’t know, I’m in the midst of working on applications for various Ph.D. programs in political science all across the country. A former professor of mine had a sit-down with me not too long ago and discussed some strategies for maximizing my chances at getting offered a position in my first round of applications. What this essentially boiled down to is homework. A LOT of homework.
So while I’ve loved this blog for the first half of 2023, it’s time to slow down and prioritize other pursuits. This isn’t to say I won’t be posting this summer, and it’s certainly not me saying farewell to Substack forever. I’m simply giving myself the ability to focus my efforts on my application while also letting those who read this blog know why the schedule has been disrupted.
I can’t say when the next post will come out, but I am confident that there will be one. Until that time comes, I thank each and every one of you who has taken the time to read any of my pieces.
They've been a joy to read! Good luck :)
